The feed conveyor comprises, at the level of each workstation 16, a storage track 30 and a track 32 for deviating pallets 22 containing the parts or elements necessary for the operation carried out at the station 16. When the storage track 30 of the station 16 is full, the following pallet 22 hits the rear of the piled pallets and is deviated laterally onto the deviation track 32 in order to join the following workstation. When the storage track 30 is free, the front rounded edge of the pallet 22 hits a stop 34 which is slightly offset in order to direct this pallet onto the storage track 30. The conveyor 10 can also be used for removing empty pallets 22 which are stacked and guided in this case by deflecting shutters 46 located at a certain height. <IMAGE>
