To take and transfer plants in earth balls (4), at least two converging needles (16) are brought above the ball (4) to be seized, the needles (16) are driven according to their axes into the ball, the earth ball hanging from the needles (16) is transferred and the needles (16) are moved along their axes from the earth ball to release the latter. Application: particularly to the depoting of earth ball plants contained in multiple cups or in well plates, for repoting or planting purposes.
