Data items D (e.g. bytes or words) are transferred over a bus (10) in bit-parallel form between a sending device (12) and a receiving device (14). For enabling error correction, each data item is transferred not only in its original form (D), but also in inverted form ( &upbar& D) and in bit permuted (cyclically shifted) form (D*). On the receiving side, the received original data (A) are kept without change, the received inverted data ( &upbar& B) are reconverted by inverting, and the received permuted data (C') are reconverted by circularly shifting them in a direction opposite to the shifting at the transmitter side. Then a majority selection is made, i.e. if at least two of the three received/reconverted data items (A, B, C) are equal, they are retained as correctly received data item D. |
