PURPOSE:To provide a strong catalyst casing structure by providing a reinforcing member extending radially on a spacer among a plural number of monolithic catalysts. CONSTITUTION:Two pieces of monolithic catalyst 9, 10 are supported radially via an elastic member 25 in a casing 1, and also supported axially in both ends by a pressure member 24 and an elastic member 28 while a part between both catalysts is isolated by folded parts 12, 13 of a spacer 11. A porous pipe 22 for secondary air supply is inserted into the spacer 11 from the outside of the casing and supports said spacer. A hole for passing exhaust gas in the central part of the spacer 11 has a hollow reinforcing member 15 radially, and hereby, the central part at the weakest part of the casing 1 is reinforced radially, enabling to obtain a strong durable catalyst. |
