PURPOSE:To raise the speed of the radiation picture information read processing to improve the read processing capability by omitting properly the advance read while keeping the effect of the advance read which improves the observational read aptitude of reproduced radiation pictures. CONSTITUTION:Values determined by advance read of a storage type phosphor sheet 103A are used as an amplification factor set value (a), a recording scale factor set value (b), and a reproduced picture processing condition set value (c) related to storage type phosphor sheets 103A-103E on which radiation picture information of the same object are stored and recorded by prescribed combinational photography when X-ray photography is performed. Consequently, the advance read of sheets 103B-103E is not performed. In this case, the value (b) is used as it is with respect to the recording scale factor, but a value obtained by correcting the value (a) in a circuit 316 is used with respect to the read gain. Since the X-ray dose reaching sheets 103A-103E is attenuated in order from the sheet 103A to the sheet 103E, the quantity of attenuation of the X-ray dose which the sheet 103A receives is obtained for each of sheets 103B-103E to correct the set value (a).
