<p>A quick setting high strength hardening composition is prepared using a spent lime-based absorbent from flue gas desulfurization as starting material. The clacium sulfite in the dry spent absorbent is oxidized to calcium sulfate, and by treatment of the dry oxidized spent absobent with sulfuric acid at a temperature above 55 DEG C, basic calcium compounds, i.e. lime which has not reacted in the desulfurization process, or CaO formed from said lime during oxidation, are neutralized.</p> |
