PURPOSE:To make it possible to seal the heat at a press-contact portion without exposing the same to a high temperature where a thermal deformation of the heat pipe is caused by filling the press-contact portion of inlet pipes of the heat pipe with a low temperature molten metal. CONSTITUTION:In a method of sealing off the heat pipe in which inlet pipes 3 for sealing a working fluid provided at one end of the heat pipe 1, an annular layer 4 made of a low-temperature molten metal is formed in advance on the inner peripheral surface of the inlet pipe 3. Next, the working fluid 10 is sealed in the heat pipe 1 after deaerating the same via a flexible pipe 10 connected to the inlet pipe 3. Continuously, the intermediate part of the inlet pipe 3 is pressed by a pusher 11 of a pressurizing device to fill the annular layer 4 into the inlet pipe 3 and a crushed to a such a degree as causing no vacuum leakage. Then, the inlet pipe 3 is heated until the temperature thereof reaches the melting point of the low-temperature molten metal of the annular layer 4, and the pressurized force is released after condensing the low-temperature metal by cooling, to seal the heat pipe. As a result, the heat pipe can be sealed at the press- contact part thereof without exposing the pipe to a high temperature where the pipe 1 causes a thermal deformation. |
