In a method and device for sterilizing packages or container insides intended to receive food products as juices, beverages, milk, etc, hydrogen peroxide is projected in the packages or inside the containers and by pre-, simultaneous or post-activation by means of a catalyst atomic oxygen is formed which constitutes the sterilization means itself. Thereby, the further treatment required heretofore for the suppression of hydrogen peroxide rests is avoided. The sterilization means is sprayed on a surface by the device and the motion of the package wets its inner surfaces.
