A photometer for the analysis of aqueous media, having a plurality of light-emitting diodes (which emit light of different wavelengths and act on a sample tray (10) which is filled with the aqueous medium to be analyzed), a photosensor which measures the light passing the sample tray, an electronic evaluation unit for calculating the analysis result from the response signal of the photosensor and a display unit, a reference tray which is filled with a reference medium being provided which is acted on by light whose wavelength in each case coincides with the light acting on the sample tray, a further photosensor which measures the light passing the reference tray being provided, a flipflop circuit which energises the light-emitting diodes to produce pulsating light being provided, the evaluation circuit taking into account the response signals of the further photosensor allocated to the reference tray in addition to the response signals of the photosensor allocated to the sample tray, and the display unit displaying the measurement directly and digitally. <IMAGE>
