In a ground-working machine (11) with mowing tools (13, 14) which are inserted in a movable housing (12) and which can be driven in rotation, the housing (12) is made virtually closed all-round and there can be introduced into this one or more air streams (31) which are directed at least partially onto the mowing tools (13, 14). This ensures that the mowing material is brought positively out of the region of the mowing tools (12, 13), and that grass, pushed down, for example by the housing (12), is erected by the air streams (31) immediately before being cut and can therefore be mown down cleanly. Furthermore, the mowing tools (12, 13) are cleaned during the mowing operation, and the danger of accidents is reduced by the housing (12) closed virtually all-round. <IMAGE>
