The invention relates to an exhaust silencer for internal combustion engines with a housing with a circumferential wall and end covers and with at least one, gas-ducting inner pipe with apertures distributed over its circumference, at least one circumferential area of the inner pipe lying nearer to the circumferential wall of the housing than other circumferential areas. In order to reduce the noise emission of the exhaust silencer, the circumferential areas of the otherwise perforated inner pipe lying closer to the circumferential wall are of closed construction.
