PURPOSE:To increase the number of detection modes for the width of document to the maximum by forming a portion not to be detected by a detector on a detected surface corresponding to a detector of a document guide adapted to move along the width of a document, and disposing a desired number of detectors on the detected surface. CONSTITUTION:In case of a A3 size sheet as a document, a detected surface 2b a little longer than the minimum difference between respective document widths, which is disposed on a document guide 2 will not press any micro-switch 6, 7 disposed at a space therebetween of the minimum difference of the respective document widths, whereby the document width is detected. In case of a B4-size sheet, the document guide 2 is moved so that the detected surface 2b presses only the micro-switch 6, whereby the document width is detected. In case of a A4-size sheet, the detected surface 2b presses both the micro-switches 6, 7, whereby the document width is detected. In case of a A5-size sheet, the micro-switch 6 is off the detected surface 2b and positioned at a concave portion 8, so that only the micro-switch 7 is pressed, whereby the document width is detected. |
