PURPOSE:To well perform scavenging and promote the improvement and the stability of ignitionability, by providing an air introducing hole or an air introducing piece, which enables a part of air in a combustion chamber to be introduced into an ignition chamber, to be opened into the ignition chamber. CONSTITUTION:An ignition chamber 10, communicating with a combustion chamber 7 further mounting a fuel injection valve 8 and an ignition plug 9, is provided in a cylinder head 2. The cylinder head 2 provides on a fuel injection line or eccentrically from it an air introducing hole 11 communicating with a combustion chamber 7, formed by the upper part of a piston 1 and an explosion surface of the cylinder head 2, from the ignition chamber 10. An internal- combustion engine, when it is in an intake and a compression stroke, introduces charging air as shown by an arrow head A in the drawing into the ignition chamber 10 from the air introducing hole 11 to perform scavenging inside the ignition chamber 10, scavenging residual gas in the preceding combustion stroke. In this way, the engine when it is in a combustion stroke, can improve ignitionability. |
