Method and device for extracting soil samples

The invention relates to the extraction of soil samples (cores) in essentially non-cohesive, water-bearing soil strata. The invention permits with relatively simple means the extraction of soil samples in the form of drill cores using the economically favourable drilling by means of endless hollow augers. The essence of the invention consists in a two-stage drilling method, where work is carried out with a high applied pressure, high torque and a speed of < 20 rev/min for the core extraction and with speeds of > 60 rev/min for conveying the compacted soil located on the helices of the endless hollow auger. To carry out the method, a core barrel 1 is suspended on a rope 4 with a rope socket 3 in between, and a non-sealed film tube 7 is mounted on a sleeve 8, preferably made of PTFE, the length of which corresponds to 1/4th of the length of the core barrel 1, which film tube 7 is drawn off by about 1/3rd of its length over the free edge of the sleeve in the installed position. <IMAGE>
