A conventional apparatus for traffic signal lamps turns each lamp on/ off by switching associated power lines that extend from the apparatus. The new control apparatus employs two functional blocks; a signal transmitter and multiple receivers located at each corner of the cross. As only two pair of lines, the control line and power line, are connected between the transmitter part and the receiver part, this helps in repairs and saves line cost. The receiver has decoder circuits, a memory and an error detect circuit. It drives the traffic lamps using photo-triacs. In erroneous cases, it can generate blinking signals in the traffic lamps.
