<p>PURPOSE:To reduce the amt. of air to be treated, to miniaturize the device, and to treat efficiently ozone by separating an ion current from an ozone current in corona discharge, and then treating ozone in the ozone current. CONSTITUTION:In a discharge electrode 7 of a corona discharge type electrostatically charging device for an electrophotographic copying machine, an axis connecting the leading end part 3 and the back 30 of a knife in the cross-sectional view is made almost parallel to the ceiling plate 6 of an outer housing 5 and a photoconductive plate 17. The ceiling plate 6 and the photoconductive photoconductive plate 17 are also used as the counter electrodes, and electricity is discharged from the leading end part 3 of the discharge electrode 7 while leaving the direction of the main body of the discharge electrode. The supply air to the discharge electrode is supplied unilaterally from he direction in the axis where discharge is not generated, and converted into a corona wind which may change its angle. Since the component converted into ozone is not charged, the component keeps proceeding along the axis. Only an ozone current 20 separated from an ion current 19 is received by the activated carbon bed 13 of an ozone receiving means 4 provided in the axis and close to the discharge electrode 7, and treated.</p> |
