Hydrolysis-resistant, thermoplastic molding compositions are made from high-molecular weight, linear polybutylene terephthalate and 0.1-10 mole %, based on the amount of the dicarboxylic acid component of the polyester, of a salt of Formula (A) [(-O3S)xR-CO2-)2]M, (A) wherein M is an alkali or alkaline earth metal cation, R is an aromatic or cycloaliphatic residue or an aliphatic residue of 2-20 carbon atoms in the carbon chain, and x is 0 or 1.
