PURPOSE:To record images with highly uniformized image quality, by providing each recording part with a heating means having characteristics individually selected for the recording part in consideration of surface conditions of a recording paper in each of recording parts. CONSTITUTION:The first recording part P1 comprises the first color ink doner film F1 and the first thermal head H1, a the film F1 is pressed against the recording paper 2 and selectively melted by heating by the head H1, and the melted ink is transferred onto the paper 2, thereby recording. The second recording part P2 and the third recording part P3 are also constructed and operated in manners similar to the above. The cross-sectional shape of heating resistors of the first, second and third thermal heads is set to be different for different ones of the recording parts, namely, the shape is sharpest for the first thermal head and becomes gradually smoother for the second and third thermal heads so that the area of contact of one heating resistor with the paper is smallest in the first head, intermediate in the second head and largest in the third head. Therefore, transfer property in the second and third recording parts in which an ink is transferred on a previously transferred ink layer is gradually enhanced, as compared with that in the first recording part. Accordingly, the transfer property is prevented from being lowered due to the surface conditions of the paper. |
