PURPOSE:To easily transfer a transfer foil to a desired pat of a printed matter without using a stamping press or the like, by a method wherein printing on a part of a paper to which a transfer foil is to be transferred is conducted by using an ink adhesive to the transfer foil, and the foil is pressed under heat against the part thus printed in said ink. CONSTITUTION:The transfer foil is obtained by subjecting a polyethylene terephthalate film to a releasability-imparting treatment, a thin film of a metal such as aluminum is provided thereon by vacuum deposition, and applying a heat-sensitive adhesive to the thin metallic film. The transfer foils include those for plastics and those for papers. When using a transfer foil for plastics, printing on a part of a paper to which the foil is to be transferred is conducted by using a printing ink comprising a plastic component, while printing on the other part of the paper is conducted by a commercialized highly oily or fatty ink. After printing is completed, the transfer foil for plastics is placed on the surface of the printed matter, and the laminate is passed through heated rolls, whereby the foil is transferred only to the part printed in the ink containing the plastic component. When using a transfer foil for papers, the ink for printing on a part to which the foil is to be transferred and the ink for printing on the other part are selected in a manner reverse to the above. |
