<p>In making a panty hose or stocking, the toe is closed by laying a course round the needles which is not knitted in, and during the continuation of knitting, a force is exerted on this end, which pulls the toe completely closed. The end is then knitted as the toe is completed, so that it will not re-open during use. The closed point can also be heat sealed. The machine using this technique can start knitting at the welt or toes, and also make a double type toe.</p> |
