1362478 Tape applicator H H WEICK 7 April 1972 [28 April 1971 23 March 1972] 16252/72 Heading B8F In a hand operated tape dispenser, adhesive tape 2a runs from a roll 2, outside a locking plate 9 and a leaf spring 8, around an applicator roller 6 carried by a sliding member 5 which is locked in its outer position by spring 8, to a second applicator roller 3, and is pressed on to the surface to be taped. To sever the tape a trigger 13, pivoted at 14, is pulled moving a sliding piece 12 against spring 8 releasing sliding member 5, which moves to its inner position under the tension of the tape, and the tape 2a is cut by a knife 4. A tension spring 10 pulls the sliding member 5 back into its outer position, and a tension spring 16 returns sliding piece 12 and trigger 13. The tape roll 2 is braked by a blade spring 18 after cutting, and is mounted on a removable bearing pin 22 to permit insertion of a new roll of tape. Two cover-plates are mounted on the case with a slot between them at the root of the handle to enable introduction of the tape. Modifications of the locking and release mechanisms are described. |
