<p>PURPOSE:To make it possible to measure the amount of application on a continuously running web indirectly, by detecting the amount of water in a paint layer before application formed on applicator rolls without contact. CONSTITUTION:Paint, which is supplied from paint feeders 5a and 5b, is stored on inner rolls 3a and 3b and otouter rolls 4a and 4b. The feeding amounts are regulated by clearances between both rolls. The amounts of applications are determined by the peripheral speeds of the rolls 3a and 3b and the rolls 4a and 4b. A part of paint layer 6 formed on applicator rolls 2a and 2b are transferred to a web 1 at a nip part. The other part is not transferred and contacted with the rolls 3a and 3b again. The new paint layers are formed on the rolls 2a and 2b. The amounts of water included in the paint before and after the transfer of the paint layers on the rolls 2a and 2b, are measured by detectors 6-9. Based on the difference in values and the moisture percentage in the paint, the amount of application in the web can be measured.</p> |
