PURPOSE:To enable a tool to be promptly, easily and compactly exchanged, by exchanging the tool by a relative motion utilizing the motion of a main spindle head in its Y, Z axis direction and the movement of a magazine, equipping a tool holder in the Y axis direction, in the X axis direction. CONSTITUTION:A control device, whose instruction of tool exchange contracts a piston rod by a cylinder in the Y axis direction setting a distance between main spindle heads A, B to the arranged pitch of a tool holder 28 with the head A, B both reaching the rising end of a Z axis and being set to a return position of a Y axis by a Z axis and a Y axis servo-motor, moves a brush unit from the enveloping position to the retracting position, disclosing a cutting tool T1, T2. The device, moving to an exchange position a rack 50 in a standby position by a conveying means of a tool magazine M to be set to the center position of the head A, B, presses the holder 28 in a detaching position to be stored in the return position by driving the Z axis to lower the head. Next the device, driving the Y axis while the Z axis with the head corresponding to the upper part of the holder 28 and lowering the head, inserts the holder, mounting a tool T3, T4, to be fitted to a spindle. |
