Box for housing modular electrical equipment 20 comprising a chassis 12 in the form of a rectangular frame with two vertical uprights 26, 28 connected by lateral crosspieces. Two profiled rails 24 are fixed onto the chassis 12, it being possible for this fixing to be carried out before or after snap-fitting the appliances 20 onto the rails 24. The ends of the rails 24 project on either side of the uprights 26, 28, the outlet cables 50 extending behind the projecting parts, whereas the inlet cables 48 extend between the uprights 26, 28, passing through gaps allowed for behind the rails 24 between the latter and the lateral crosspieces. A hood 14 is fitted onto the chassis 12. <IMAGE>
