The invention relates to a new shock-absorbing wad for hunting cartridges. The wad according to the invention comprises a skirt consisting of a cylindrical wall 3 closed by a circular bottom 4 and an obturator consisting of a cylindrical wall 6 closed by a circular bottom 7, the obturator being connected to the skirt by means of a cross-shaped foot 8, on which rests a circular disc 9 connected to the skirt by means of four rods 11 arranged on the periphery of the disc 9 and comprising a middle groove 12 on their outer surface 11a. The wall 3 of the skirt comprises longitudinal slots 13 terminating in transverse slots 14. The wad according to the invention ensures a correct position of the obturator in relation to the skirt in the cartridge and has notable shock-absorbing properties at the moment of firing. <IMAGE>
