Shut off and/or flowrate-adjusting valve of the type comprising, between two end pieces of the inlet and outlet pipe, a profiled central body surrounded by at least one fluid passage and carrying, at one end, a shut off valve element. It is composed of three main bodies 1, 2, 3 assembled coaxially so that the central flange 3 is flanked on either side by a pipe end piece 1, 2, the valve element 12 being connected by a to-and-fro shaft 16 carrying rack teeth interacting with a manoeuvring pinion housed in sealed fashion in the flange 3. Application to the actuation and to the sealing system of valves with a profiled central body. <IMAGE>
