PURPOSE:To permit the easy cleaning of a receiving base and inserting part for a test piece by making freely attachable and detachable said receiving base and providing an open/shut cap so that the inserting part can be opened. CONSTITUTION:A device 1 for measuring urine sugar is constituted by housing an optical system 4, a signal processing system 5 and a display system 6 into a body case 3. The test piece 2 is constituted by adhering the small test piece to the top end of a stick. A recess 7a is formed to a measuring part 3a and the open/shut cap 7b of the recess 7a is provided. The inserting part 8 of the test piece 2 is formed via a step to the floor surface of the recess 7a and the receiving base 9 of the test piece 2 is provided to the part 8. The base 9 is constituted by providing successively guide pieces to both sides of the body part and is attached to the part 8 by sliding freely attachably and detachably the same. The system 4 is constituted of a light emitting diode 10 and a photodiode 11 into a light transmission type.
