The invention describes a glass for spectacle lenses having a refractive index of 1.59 or more, an Abbe number of 32 or more and a specific gravity of 3.7 or less, comprising 100 parts by weight of a base glass comprising, in % by weight, from 3 to 70% of SiO2, from 0 to 35% of B2O3, from 0 to 20% of Al2O3, from 20 to 70% of SiO2 + B2O3 + Al2O3, from 0 to 15% of Li2O, from 0 to 45% of CaO, from 0 to 20% of MgO, from 2 to 45% of Li2O + CaO + MgO, from 0 to 20% of TiO2, from 0 to 13% of ZrO2, from 0 to 35% of Nb2O5, from 5 to 35% of TiO2 + ZrO2 + Nb2O5, from 0 to 20% of Na2O + K2O, from 0 to 20% of SrO + BaO + ZnO, from 0 to 20% of La2O3 + Y2O3, from 0 to 15% of Ta2O5 + WO3 and from 0.1 to 33% of Nd2O3, and 0.1 part by weight or more of at least one colouring component selected from the group consisting of 6.0 parts by weight or less of CeO2, 1.0 part by weight or less of CuO, 3.5 parts by weight or less of MnO2, 0.15 part by weight or less of CoO, 3.0 parts by weight or less of Fe2O3, 1.5 parts by weight or less of NiO, 10.0 parts by weight or less of Er2O3 and 10.0 parts by weight or less of Sm2O3.
