Device for stringed instruments, e.g. guitars, the said device having electronically actuable shortening elements for setting chords. To actuate the chords, a note, e.g. on the lowest string, is produced manually, the built-in sensors calling up the desired chord from the program and activating the shortening elements for setting the chord on the other strings. Variations of chords may be initiated by touching a plurality of sensors.
