In railway systems with track sections which are monitored by DC circuits and in which the travel rails are used to transmit data from the section of rail to the vehicle when the track is occupied, the vehicle equipment must be tuned to the respective track circuit frequency of the track section being travelled over when the boundaries of the track sections are passed through. This takes place in that, whilst a first reception channel (EK1) of the vehicle equipment is tuned to the current track circuit frequency of the respective section being travelled over, a different reception channel (EK2) of the vehicle equipment is pre-tuned to the track circuit frequency of the respective subsequent section. When the vehicle travels into this section, the pre-tuned reception channel (EK2) takes over data transmission whilst the reception channel (EK1) which has been active until then is pre-tuned to the track circuit frequency of the next section. <IMAGE>
