CONSTITUTION:A feedback correction quantity computing means 4 computes the feedback correction quantity in accordance with the signal from an oxygen sensor 3. An operating condition at the time before the oxygen sensor 3 is activated. An interrupting means 9 interrupts an air-fuel ratio feedback control when the output of the oxygen sensor 3 is not in an inactive condition. The abnormality of oxygen sensor 3 is discriminated by discriminating the inactive condition of oxygen sensor 3 in the operating condition at the time before the oxygen sensor 3 is activated, and the air-fuel ratio feedback control is interrupted. Thus, the deterioration of exhaust gas, increase in fuel consumption and poor operability can be prevented.
