PURPOSE:To obtain a rectangular magnetic characteristics of a magnetic material represented by a general formula of (CeMM)1-xSmxCo4.0-4.8(0<x<1) in preferable reproducibility by adjusting the entire amount of the Ce to 55-65wt% of the CeMM. CONSTITUTION:Cerium mesh metal CeMM separated from an ore is not constant in composition, but varies at least in content of Ce from 45-55wt%, and also in contents of La, Nd and Pr. The above CeMM is uses as it is to produce a rare earth metal Co alloy produced by substituting partly the conventional Sm for the CeMM. Since the content in the CeMM remarkably affects the magnetic characteristics, the Ce is added thereto when producing the alloy to control the content of the Ce to 55-65wt%. This composition obtains a permanent magnet having excellent rectangular magnetic characteristics in preferable reproducibility. The rate of the substitution of the Sm as represented by x is not limited at all, but may be selected so as to reduce the cost of the raw material. |
