PURPOSE:To attain highly accurate positioning precisely by setting up metallic pipes into which an optical fiber core partially removed at its coat is inserted and a molding connection pin in a metal mold, injecting molding resin to mold them collectively, and then diving the mold at its center part. CONSTITUTION:An optical fiber bare wire 2 partially removed at its coat is inserted into metallic pipes 11 and supported in a direction along the center axis line of the metallic pipes 11, these wire 2 and pipes 11 are set up in a metal mold 13 by using an optical fiber bare wire fixing member 14, a molding connection pin 15 is inserted into the metal mold, and then mold resin is injected and hardened. Then, the collective mold is taken out from the metal mold 13, the connection pin 15 is pulled out, th mold is cut off at its center, and the cut end surfaces are ground. The two obtained ferrules 17 are inserted into a sleave 7 and their end surfaces are joined and a connection pin 6 is inserted into holes 9 formed on collar parts 10 to optically connect them. After connecting the ferrules, the unit is pressed and fixed in the axial direction by a fixing housing 12. Thus, highly accurate optical connectors and ferrules can be obtained. |
