<p>An optical disc player employs counter means preset with a preset value representative of a distance between an initial address position of an optical head block (28) and a desired track address position. The counter decrements the absolute value of the preset value as the optical head block (28) approaches the desired track. The counter value is converted into an analog signal and applied to a tracking driver (32), which drives the optical head block (28) toward the desired track. Preferably, the absolute value is decremented by 1 (one) for each track crossed by an optical beam.</p> |
