PURPOSE:To obtain a thermal transfer printer reduced in running cost by eliminating the running non-stability, misalignment wind-up and wind-up impossibility of an ink ribbon, by inclining the entry direction of the ink ribbon with respect to the advance direction of a thermal head. CONSTITUTION:The cassette mount plate 42 for supporting the ribbon cassette 5 mounted to a carriage is inclined by beta deg. with respect to the advance direction of a thermal head 3, that is, the axis of a platen roller 1 to allow the ribbon cassette 5 to incline by the same angle. By this method, because the ribbon is supplied from an upper direction in an amount corresponding to the push- down amount of the ribbon, no push-down of the ribbon is generated. In the case of the lower stage printing of the ribbon, the entry angle beta of the ribbon may be set in a reverse direction. |
