PURPOSE:To improve the tracking accuracy and to attain minaturization of a magnetic head by reducing the thickness of a nonmagnetic matter at a place near a magnetic gap and in the driving direction of a magnetic recording medium and increasing the thickness of said nonmagnetic matter at a place distant away from the magnetic gap and in the driving direction of said recording medium. CONSTITUTION:A nonmagnetic matter 33 of a composite magnetic head has an approximately triangular section so that the thickness of the matter 33 is reduced at a place 33a near a magnetic gap in the driving direction X of a magnetic recording medium and then increased at a coil groove 33b distant away from the place 33a and also in the direction X. The 2nd core halves 36 and 42 and gap spacer 37 and 43 are formed on two side faces opposite to the matter 33. The core half 36 and the spacer 37 forming a record/ reproduction head 31 are set vertical to the face of the magnetic head. In such constitution, the tracking accuracy is improved and the miniaturization is attained with a composite magnetic head. |
