PURPOSE:To make it possible to detect the residual amounts of an ink sheet and recording paper by one sensor, by setting the length of the ink sheet so as to make the same slightly longer than that of the recording paper. CONSTITUTION:When the length of recording paper 5 is set to (l) and that of an ink sheet 1 to (l'), the ink sheet 1 and the recording paper 5, both of which are almost same in a length and has the relation of l<l', are used. An opening part 23a is provided to a recording paper holder 23 at the position in the vicinity of a platen roller 4 and a sensor S3 for detecting the residual amount of the recording paper is provided so as to correspond to said opening part 23a. By this mechanism, when the residual amount of the recording paper 5 becomes little, the sensor S3 detects this state to stop the apparatus or to issue an alarm for urging the replacement of the recording paper 5. |
