<p>A deriv. of 3-(4-phenyl 1-piperazinyl) 1,2-propane diol is made by (a) reacting equimolar amts. of 3-(7-(1,3-dimethyl xanthine)) propane sulphonic acid and 1-(3-(1,2-propane diol)) 4-phenyl piperazine, with agitation for 1-4 hrs. in methanol under reflux, raising to pH 7; (b) removing part of the solvent under reduced pressure at 0 deg.C approx.; and (c) precipitating the 1,2,3,6-tetrahydro 1,3-dimethyl 2,6-dioxo-purine 7-propane sulphonate of 3-(4-phenyl 1-piperazinyl) 1,2-propane diol until it has a constant m.pt.</p> |
