<p>A video-tape cassette which has upper and lower housing portions 11a and 11b which are assembled together in a direction e normal to a plane of separation between the portions in order to define a housing 11 which is substantially rectangular, with an opening 22 which extends along a side of the housing between end walls 19, 20 of the housing which is intended to contain the reels (spools) 12a, 12b which have tape rolled on them and which is guided between the reels in a path 13' which extends via the opening, and a cover structure 14 which is mounted between pivots in the housing in order to allow a movement, through the mediation of a helical spring 57, from an open position, which reveals the path of the tape, to a closed position, in which the cover structure covers the tape path.
