Process comprises forming a rigid metal mesh with pre-determined mesh size from welded rods; placing over this a polymer layer, or an upper and lower layer, with appln. of heat and pressure to cause penetration of the mesh into the interior of the layer and leave them firmly bonded; and framing the base obtd. in a peripheral frame, which may be done before incorporating the polymer in the mesh.
