The clinkering process uses starting cpds. contg. CaO, SiO2, Al2O3 and Fe2O3, e.g. calcites, clays, marls, blast furnace slags, gypsum, anhydrite and others, and fluorite, with sulphur from any sulphur-contg. material, e.g. gypsum or anhydrite, or from use of fuel contg. sufficient sulphur to give a clinker contg. 1.4-3.8% SO3. The reaction is carried out at 1350 deg.C max. maintained for 10-30 mins. (-pp)
