1363879 Toggle fasteners SWISS ALUMINIUM Ltd 10 Dec 1971 [11 Dec 1970] 57544/71 Heading E2B A toggle fastener includes a housing 4, an operating lever 6 and an anchor member 13, the lever having a forked end which is pivoted to the housing by two pins 11 which are prevented from escaping by the presence of the anchor member between the prongs 7 of the forked end, and the anchor member being pivoted to the operating lever by at least one further pin 22 which is secured against axial movement by a removable retainer 24. The arrangement is such that the operating lever is movable between a position lying in the housing and a position extending from the housing and when it is in the latter position the retainer can be removed, whereupon the further pin 22 can be withdrawn so as to release the anchor member from the operating lever, and the anchor member can be moved from between the prongs 7, whereupon the two pins 11 can be withdrawn so as to release the operating lever from the housing. As shown, the housing 4 is secured to the wall of a goods vehicle and the anchor member is pivotally connected by two pins 22 to the lever 6 and consists of a rod 14 having transverse arms 15 for co-operation with an anchorage 23 and passing through a sleeve 16, there being springs 17, 18, one on either side of the sleeve, to permit resilient yielding axial movement of the rod; a nut 19 adjusts the pre-compression of the springs. The pins 11 are inserted into the bores 8. 9 of the fork and housing from inside the fork and retained in position by the sleeve 16 when the anchor member is assembled to the lever. |
