PURPOSE:To simplify a work, and also to prevent a welding defect by collecting a molten weld metal in a start tub consisting of a clay-like substance, and subsequently, executing an arc welding again to a cooled weld metal. CONSTITUTION:A cup-shaped start tab 10 is formed by a clay-like substance on the end parts of base metals 1, 1. An arc start is started from the base metal 1 by pointing a welding wire 11 to a suitable part 1a of the base metal, and a molten weld metal 12 is collected at the bottom of a start tub 10. After the weld metal 12 has been cooled, the arc welding is continued again onto the collected weld metal. Since welding is started by using the clay-like start tub, the welding work is simplified, and the fitting accuracy is improved, therefore, a welding defect is prevented. |
