<p>The dumbbell has a handle (1) and weights (2,3,4,5) all having noncircular, elongated cross-sections transverse to the longitudinal handle axis, the major axes of all of the cross-sections preferably being parallel. In particular, the handle may have a rectangular cross-section and the weights an oval cross-section. The ends of the handle have two parallel, straight ribs (6) and threaded axial bores (8), the weights having parallel grooves (7) which mate with the ribs and being secured to the handle by screws (9). The weights also have ribs (6a) for mating with the grooves (7a) of further weights to form a non-rotatable weight stack at each end of the dumbbell. The handle may be of longitudinally split two-piece form and a hand-engaging strap may be secured between the ends of the handle. <IMAGE></p> |
