PURPOSE:To detect continuously a displacement of the tip of an electrode by constituting a titled sensor so that a strain gauge is set to a position in the vicinity of a zero point by operating a solenoid by a timer, when the tip of a movable electrode has contacted to the surface of a material to be welded. CONSTITUTION:A movable electrode 3 which has started a descent together with a cylinder 6 by a solenoid valve 5 at a point A contacts to materials to be welded 2a, 2b on a fixed electrode 4 at a point of B and its descent is completed. At a point C, a solenoid 8 becomes on by a timer 7, a vertical rod 11 formed as one body with a strain gauge 10 is locked, and at a point D, an electric conduction of a resistance welding is started, and the electric conduction is completed at a point E. In this case, the tip of the electrode 3 moves up and down in a shape of a curve by expansion of the materials 2a, 2b, abrasion of the electrode or scattering of a nugget of a weld zone. When the electrode 3 starts its ascent at the point E, the solenoid 8 becomes off and the rod 11 is opened. In this way, a displacement of the tip of the electrode can be detected continuously irrespective of its abrasion. |
