<p>The total current drawn from the mains (15) by the copier (10) is monitored by a detector (20), which consists of a current transformer, amplifier and rectifier. The transducer output (26) is fed to the microcomputer (13). The current fed to the copy fixer (11) and light (12) is fed via an adjustment circuit (18) and two more detectors (21,22). The other current-using devices (14), e.g. drive motors, are fed via a fourth detector (27). The temp. of the fixing device (11) is also monitored. The timing of the copier operations and the currents fed to the light and fixing device are controlled by the microcomputer (13) to keep the total mains current at a level of less than 16 Amps, despite the peak current of 9 Amps drawn by the light, 14 Amps drawn by the fixer and 10 Amps drawn by the other devices.</p> |
