<p>4,8 -dipiperidino pyrimido (5,4-d) pyrimidine is made by (a) reacting 2,4,6,8-tetrahydroxy pyrimido (5,4-d) pyrimidine with PCl5 in POCl3 to form the tetra-chloro deriv; (b) dissolving the residue in inert organic solvent and conversion of the mixt. with piperidine and caustic soda to an acid medium of pH 1-3 by addn. of HCl or H2SO4; (c) removal of water by distn. concn. of the organic phase, taking up in methanol, boiling and cooling, when the required prod. separates out.</p> |
