PURPOSE:To provide a liquid crystal composition for display, composed of a specific nematic liquid crystal compound exhibiting positive dielectric anisotropy, having high contrast when viewed from the clearly viewable angle and wide view angle at the direction perpendicular to the above, and useful for vehicle clocks, digital tuning system, etc. CONSTITUTION:The objective liquid crystal composition contains one or more compounds selected from the compounds of formula I -VIII (R1 is 2-5C straight- chain alkyl; R2, R3, R3', R5, R5', R7, R7', R8 and R8' are 2-8C straight-chain alkyl; R6 and R6' are 2-7C straight-chain alkyl). EFFECT:It can be used over a wide temperature range (-35-+95 deg.C). |
