A continuous flexible sheet of filter paper 40 is fed from roll 41, around the arcuate bottom 11 of the tank and a guide plate 61, onto the wall 16 of the drum which is perforated. The paper is pulled through the liquid by the clockwise rotating drum for almost a whole turn before being removed at 48 from the drum surface. The liquid is sucked through the paper into the drum, e.g. by a downstream pump, as it rotates and leaves via the hollow shaft of the drum. Solids are deposited on the paper sheet. The regions of the drum wall at which the paper sheet is fed to and removed from the drum are closely adjacent and above the liquid surface. The tank 15 is fitted with overflow and drum outlets 36 and 37. |
