PURPOSE:To prevent frictional plates from abnormal sounds due to the slip by providing cam surfaces on a pair of side gears of a differential gear. CONSTITUTION:By the rotation of a ring gear (not shown) connected to the drive side is rotated a differential case 1, and thereby a pinion shaft 3, pinion gear 5, side gears 7, cam 11 and sleeve 15 are also rotated integrally so that an axle 9 connected to the side gear 7 is rotated. When one axle 9 here slips, the side gears 7 begin to rotate relative to the differential case 1 and the cam 11 rotates integrally therewith. The rotation of the cam 11 causes plungers 21 bearing against a cam surface 11a to slidably move in the same direction synchronously relative to the sleeve 15. When the relative speed of the side gears 7 exceeds a certain speed, the side gears 7 are braked by the resistance of an orifice 17 to restrict the differential motion.
